Nollywood Celebrity Memorial — It’s already two years the Nigerian Movie Industry lost one of it’s great actors Muna Obiekwe to the cold hands of death. He died of Kidney failure on the 18th of January 2015, at the young age of 36.
His death came as a shock to many including his colleagues because he was a very private person who did not beg the public for funds but rather, chose to raise the money himself. Unfortunately, he did not meet up the proper amount needed for his treatment which led to his untimely death.

Late Muna Obiekwe was born 1979 in his home town in Enugu state. He is the first cousin of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie and was popularly known for playing the role of a bad boy. Some of his movies include: Dirty Secret, Not Man Enough, Men in Love, Songs of Sorrow, My Best Friend, Wasted Effort, Eagles Bride, to mention a few.
After the death of the star actor, some were of the opinion that he died of poverty while a few others said he died of pride.

Here was a statement made by his god-mother about his death:
“He was to do up to 20 dialysis; the doctors said if the dialysis improved his condition, the worse would certainly be over. Sometimes, he was doing two in a week and he would need injection on each occasion. Each appointment was causing him 250,000 to 300,000 naira.”
In the area of him being poor, it’s not safe to say he died of poverty rather, the sickness cost him more than he earned. Spending close to 600,000 in a week is certainly a huge sum of money.
Furthermore, the speculation that he was proud was strengthen by the fact that he was a very private person. So private that many were not aware he was married with two kids based abroad.
So said if he was too private to ask for help, he should have done it for the sake of the people he loves, his wife and kids. While others said since he knew he wouldn’t ask for help, he should struggled harder to quit smoking and drinking which was the cause of his ailment.

In conclusion, we learn from peoples experience and mistakes. When faced in critical situation involving life and death, it’s advised to seek for assistance from others who will be willing to help.
