Nigerian filmmaker Chico Ejiro has died. He died in the early hours of Friday, Christmas day. A source close to the deceased revealed to The PUNCH that Ejiro died at about 2 am on Christmas Day. According to the source, Ejiro was ill about five weeks ago and taken to a hospital in Surulere where he was placed on admission. But he was discharged after a week. “From what he said, he had high blood pressure that led to some heart complications and disease. He was recuperating and got better. He even started a production that he was shooting about four days ago but he was not fully involved,” the source added. Veteran Nollywood actress Louisa Nwobodo has been declared dead after she passed out in her car and was rushed to the hospital. Former Chairman, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Enugu Chapter, Stan K Amadi, who confirmed her death, said the 78-year-old passed out on Sunday, September 13th, 2020, in her car in St. Mulumbas Catholic Church, New Haven, Enugu. She was quickly rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead. Her body has been deposited at the morgue pending her Funeral arrangements. Nollywood has been thrown into mourning as it has lost another veteran in the person of 52-year-old actress, Chizoba Bosah Sam-Boye. Bosah’s acting credits go as far back as the classic Nollywood film, “Living In Bondage” and her Igbo comedy series- ‘Kanyi Si Ebi’ was a major contributor to the start of Igbo Channel on DSTV. Bosah is also known for her role as Aunty Atinuke in popular Tv drama, Tinsel. Popular actress, Funke Akindele also known as ‘Jenifa’ is currently in a mourning mood after losing her dad to the cold hands of death. Nollywood Actor, Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka is in mourning as he recently lost his aged mother. Saka lost his mum yesterday, August 29. She was 92 years old and was immediately buried according to Islamic rites. The comic actor broke down in tears during his mother’s burial. Announcing her death to Instagram, Saka shared clips from her funeral and wrote: “Finally I have now joined the club of orphans aka “omo orukan”.My Mum has joined my late Dad her late husband about 40 hours ago. May her soul and the souls of others who have also joined their wives or husbands down there rest in perfect peace. … IT IS WELL.”
BREAKING NEWS. Veteran Nollywood actor, Ifeanyi Gbulie, who has featured in countless movies has been reported dead after a brief illness. The actor has been bed ridden for several months as he was down with Stroke and after several battles to survived, he passed away in the early hours of December, 13th, 2018. Ifeanyi died in Enugu. He was one of the pioneers of Nollywood having been acting from his hey days at NTA channel 8, Enugu in the 1970s and 1980s. He was popularly called ‘Danda.’ May God grant him eternal rest in his heavenly kingdom!
The family of Late Moses Olaiya, popularly known as Baba Sala, has announced December 6 and 7 as dates for the burial ceremony of the icon. According to reports, his son, a performing officer at the National Troupe of Nigeria, Emmanuel Adejumo, popularly called “Boisala’’ disclosed that the family has decided on the date for the burial. Baba Sala, a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), comedian, dramatist and actor died on October 7 at 81 in Ilesa, Osun state. His body has since been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex Annex, (Wesley Guild Hospital) in Ilesa. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
CELEBRITY DEATH: The Nollywood movie industry has lost yet another icon, a top member of the AGN in Lagos Fred Ezimadu a.k.a Big Fredo lost his life to tooth infection over the weekend. According to top Nollywood sources, the actor who hails from Kwale in Delta state has been battling tooth infection for a while before the infection turns fatal over the weekend. His daughter and a top singer said Big Fredo was rushed to the hospital after the tooth ache became unbearable where he passed on few hours after admission. May his soul rest in peace!🙏
