Experienced Nollywood actor and producer Dele Odule recently expressed his worry at the negative effects of social media in the society and equally cautioned Nigerians to be careful with the way they are using the social media as it could destroy a lot of people.
While chatting with Saturday Beat, the thespian was of the view that social media should be blamed for the loss of moral values in several parts of Nigeria today.
According to him, the social media has resulted in many losing sense of culture and imbibing all sorts of strange behaviors threatening the sanity of the society.
“My worry is that a lot of people are not making appropriate use of the social media. In instances that they are supposed to hide their heads, they expose themselves unnecessarily all in the name of posting certain things on the social media.
“People have forgotten our culture; they are indulging in practices that our society ordinarily does not accept all in the name of civilization and trying to follow trends in the Western world.
“Though the social media will not expose an individual on its own, it is what such persons put out there that will expose and endanger them. This technology and innovation have been abused by a lot of people in Nigeria,”
