The nollywood actor Anayo Modestus Onyekwere usually known as Kanayo O Kanayo has joined the likes of Desmond Elliot, Yul Edochie, Kate Henshaw and other Nigerian entertainers who have ventured into politics.
In an Instagram post, the 56-year-old actor announced his ambition to represent Ahiazu/Ezinhitte Mbaise Federal Constituency of Imo state in the upcoming 2019 elections under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
No doubt, this would be KOK’s first partisan participation in politics, having been chairman of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Studies, (NIHTS), a federal government parastatal in 2013.
The talented actor was born on March 1, 1962 and hails from Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. In 2006 he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
In 1992, Kanayo made his debut film appearance in the film Living in Bondage. Kanayo has starred in over 100 films.
He is currently a United Nations ambassador and bears the title of MFR. Kanayo along with Kenneth Nnebue (producer of Living in Bondage), Olu Jacobs, Enoch Adeboye, Queen Elizabeth and Fela Kuti were among Nigerians honored by the government in 2014 during the centenary celebration.
We wish him success as he ventures into this game called “Politics”.
