CELEBRITY GIST: Many veteran Nollywood actors were honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the just concluded Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA 2016). At the star-studded event, longest-serving Nollywood Couple – Joke Silva and her husband Olu Jacobs, both received a Lifetime Achievement Award each for their impeccable contributions to the African film industry.
Lifetime Achievement Awards is giving to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of theatrical arts. This is a well-deserved award to honor Olu Jacobs and his wife Joke Silva, both of who studied theatrical arts locally and internationally; and are great stage performers as well.
See below for Joke Silva’s speech regarding their Lifetime Achievement Awards, which was given to them on Saturday, June 11 at the Obi Wali International Conference Center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In her words:
“The Lifetime Achievement Award is a BIG DEAL and we feel so honored to be the recipients for The African Movie Academy Awards 2016. We love our work as actors, tutors and also as producers of drama/film content.
We look forward to performing and producing more content that will uplift us as a people. We look forward to joining hands with our colleagues …both young and not so young… to strengthen the industry and push it to the next level. There’s still so much to do to ensure that those coming behind have it much better than we did. #AMAA2016 #Awards #Africa #Honored” – JOKE SILVA
